Titanic anniversary brings two major events to Holly, MI

Almost twenty years ago on September 1, 1985, at 2am, right around the time she sank, the great ship Titanic was found by an exploration team.  On April 14, the ninety-third anniversary of the sinking, we remembered and went back . . . back to Titanic.

On Thursday evening, April 14th, at 1800 hours (6pm), special guest speaker, Ralph White, amazed our guests as he took them back to that  climactic

moment.  The exciting moment was relived when after years of searching for the great ship, Dr. Robert Ballard, along with Ralph White and the rest of the exploration team, finally found her on September 1, 1985.

Then, on Friday evening, April 15th at  1830 hours (6:30pm)  our guests joined Ralph White, our special guest of honor, along with a few other Titanic “dignitaries”  at the Holly Hotel’s “Last Night on the Titanic” dinner theater production featuring the last, exact eleven-course meal served to the first-class passengers on that fateful night.

Ralph White was part of the Titanic exploration team and captured on film the exciting discovery of this historic wreck.  He helped retrieve over 1,400 artifacts.   Among several film credits, his Titanic footage was featured in the James Cameron’s Academy Award-winning feature film, “Titanic”. He has made 33 dives to the 12,000 foot-deep wreck of the Titanic, including fieldwork on James Cameron’s 3D IMAX film, “Ghosts of the Abyss”, and was the submersible cameraman for the 1991 IMAX feature film, “Titanica”.
